Articles, short videos and a podcast with the people who design, build and run data centers.
About Me
Data center engineer with hands-on experience across operations, pre-sales and sales.
I started in operations at a Tier III colocation data center, contributing to its Uptime Institute Tier III certifications across design, construction and operations, as part of the first team in Egypt to reach Operational Sustainability, Gold. I then led the operational launch of a global cloud provider's first dedicated data center in Egypt, from site survey to go-live.
Today, in Saudi Arabia, I work in pre-sales and sales: validating power and precision cooling solutions, and building the costing behind them, guided by industry standards.
DC Talks is where I share my passion for data centers.
“I don't have all the answers, but I know the questions that keep data centers running”

Modern GPU racks now reach 132 kW — and projections are heading toward 1 MW per rack.
Air cooling is no longer enough. Direct Liquid Cooling is becoming the standard.
The challenge? No internal physical redundancy inside the rack.
The new approach applies Tier ratings at the Super Pod level, relying on logical redundancy instead of physical duplication.
This isn’t just higher power density — it’s a complete redefinition of data center design.
Are we ready for 800V DC and liquid cooling as the new baseline?

A data center isn’t a building, UPS, cooling, or servers.
It exists to support IT strategy —
and IT strategy exists to enable business goals.
Anything else is misalignment.
A data center is a value stack:
Energy → M&E → IT → Software → Business Value
Every infrastructure decision below
directly impacts business value above.
Top-down: business drives design.
Bottom-up: infrastructure enables execution.
If this loop isn’t closed,
your data center runs — but doesn’t create value.

The first question for any data center isn’t about the UPS…
Nor is it about the generator…
Layer 1 is: Energy Supply & Sourcing.
From the power plant,
through the grid,
to the transformers,
to the generators,
all the way to the Main Distribution Board.
The real question is:
Do you have enough power available to keep the business running, even in a worst-case scenario?
A single grid connection = a single point of failure.
A generator without a fuel strategy = a false sense of security.
The most critical moment? The switchover.
A delay of even a few seconds = downtime.
Downtime = direct financial loss.
Layer 1 isn’t just about availability.
It’s about risk management.
It’s about sustainability.
These are decisions that impact OPEX, ESG, and the company’s reputation.

The M&E Plant
And why many people focus on "compute" while forgetting that UPS systems, cooling, and switchgear are the true foundation of reliability.
We will cover:
* Why infrastructure is not a "commodity."
* How PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) directly impacts ROI.
* And why a 99.999% SLA is built into the design and operations—not just into marketing brochures.
